I went to counseling 1-2 times. Why didn't it work?
There are 2 main questions to ask yourself if therapy didn’t work.
Did I like my therapist?
Did I give it enough time?
You know the experts know if you’re gonna have a successful outcome in therapy (aka you meet the goals you came in to address)? The #1 predictor of your success is IF YOU LIKE & FEEL CONNECTED to your therapist.
If you’re jiving with your therapist then the next thing to do is give yourself the time establish trust and report with our counselor and allow yourself to adjust to the newness of counseling. This means committing to yourself to go for 6-8 sessions (depending on what your counselor is suggesting).
